Makes my chicken on the line incident yesterday pale into insignificance.....

In the south-west those bus-like trains are known as 'Bendy buses'. Sadly it looks as though one has decided to impersonate it's rubber-tyred namesake.

Luckily nobody was killed or seriously injured; last time there was a serious fire on board a moving train, the one fatality was someone who broke a window, jumped out, and was run down by another train.

Ah, yes...Maidenhead. That was one of the drivers (sic) behind the rule book changes requiring guards (train managers or whatever you want to call them) to remain on the train and manage the passengers' safety instead of going outside and helping the driver protect the train.
