Will it be war or peace?
Amongst those who want to keep abreast of the Gulf Crisis there will be many who will be scouring today's papers for the latest news and views. But they'll be wasting their time. If you really want to know what is going to happen keep your eyes on today's FA Cup Quarter Final tie between Watford and Burnley.
You see amongst Burnley's supporters is one Alistair Campbell, you know, the guy who gives Tony Blair his orders. If Burnley win he is likely to be so overjoyed and filled with the joys of spring that the threat of being vaporised by one of Saddam's WMD's will seem as far away as the Deep Blue Yonder and all thoughts of war will immediately disappear. If on the other hand, the game ends in a draw and thence a replay Campbell may well feel that yes indeed, the weapons inspectors should be given more time.
But, on the third and final hand, should Burnley lose he will be seriously pissed off. This won't just be kick the cat territory this will be greyhounds in the slips and unleash the dogs of war stuff. His life will have been made so miserable that only a full and immediate invasion of Iraq will do. The Americans will count themselves lucky to even hear about it.
So, it's c'mon you Golden Boys.
