Comments: The long reach of Ken Livingston -

I am a British and Canadian citizen, currently on holiday from Canada where I reside.. I was the victim of an assault by a bus driver on a London Transport bus {97 to Chingford at 10.00 pm on August 18, 2004}. I was deliberately crushed between the front doors multiple times and finally driven off between the doors. My baby, in a stroller was also in danger of being crushed between the doors. This driver seriously jeopodized the lives of my child, my husband and myself. And all this because he refused to allow me to fold up the stroller and place it in the designated spot for strollers. I have been thoroughly disheartened by the apathy with which the bus company is dealing with this incident and their driver. Furthermore, the police informed me that they were only intending to classify my case as a common assault, which meant that it might not have been investigated fully. They were intending to leave it up to the discretion of the bus company to deal with their employee. Meantime, we are in fear that evidence such as a cctv video taping and the report an independent witness may get 'lost'. Based on what the bus company has said, we have good reason to believe this may happen. My husband, a first time visitor to this country, is incredulous as to the virtual lack of action taken by all concerned. He has already returned to Canada. I have contacted the Canadian Embassy, which has advised me to notify Ken Livingston immediately of this situation.

My contact phone number in the UK is 8 521 1760.
I am solicitintg the assistance of the Mayor of London in ensuring that this incident will be dealt with quickly and efficently. I leave for Canada on Monday 30, 2004, but fully intend to pursue matters over there. I would greatly appreciate a call before I leave and your assurance that an investigation will be carried out into this affair.

Thank you,
